Car Vs Train – 55% Of London Commuters Could Save Time By Simply Taking The Train Over The Car
Recent research from credit card provider Marbles finds that a number of London commuters could save a significant amount of time by choosing to take the train instead of the car.
Marbles have looked at a number of common commuting locations and have created an infographic to show the journey time and costs involved with taking both transport methods. This means commuters can look up their location and find out which option is the most economical and which has the shortest journey time.
What’s The Faster Option?
Some may be surprised to learn that in 55% of cases trains came out on top for being the faster option. But generally taking the car is often the most economical choice.
Some locations would benefit more than others from switching. For example in Brighton, commuters could save 16 days per year by choosing to travel via train instead of the car. In Bletchley, 10 days could be saved and in Crawley 9.5.
On the other hand, those living in Dartford would save nearly 6 days by taking the car over the train and those in Windsor would save 5.5 days each year.
Cost wise, Ashford commuters could save £2,824.60 per year by taking the train, those in Crawley could save £2,370 and those living in Brighton could save £1,425.50. However, in 68% of cases driving is the cheaper option for commuters over taking the train.
